Swims
Day 5
Today we see a very different side of Lefkada as we go on our Southern and Western Lefkada tour. It's an early start as we have a 30 min boat ride to our first swim, during this journey we will see the coastline in all its glory as we head South.
Our morning 3k swim starts in the turquoise water of Mikros Gialos beach swimming due South and along the West side of the bay. Along this coast there are many hidden caves to venture into. We head around Cape Koutoupa and land on small beach along the peninsula.
Then onto the beautiful bay of Sivota where we rest and lunch in one of the many tavernas in this colourful harbour.
The afternoon sees us head West, going around the tip of cape Doukato, passing the lighthouse and 'Sappho's leap', eventually seeing the soaring scenic limestone white cliffs with turquoise blue water of the west of Lefkada. We travel North for a short while and the swim starts from the famous beach of Porto Katsiki a real natural wonder, with its deep turquoise water. This is a perfect opportunity to disembark and explore the unique beach and cliffs of the area. Its name translates as Port of The Goat, as in past times only goats could reach the area! Due to its exceptional beauty it is constantly rated one of the top beaches in Europe.
We then have a leisurely 1.8k coastal swim South to Cape Axani, exploring the rocky cliffs on our left whilst on our right the connecting archipelago to Italy is unfolding.
